Monthly Powersheets Goals
It is officially the second half of the year! I guess July is *technically* the second half of the year, but I wasn’t ready to accept it until the month of August. And not really till almost the end of August. Even though it may have taken me a bit of extra time to come to terms with the idea that we are getting extremely close to pumpkin-in-everything season, I still wanted to share my August goals with all of you.
I have been working through my Powersheets this year and have LOVED it. The group over at Cultivate What Matters are about to start showing off their 2018 Powersheets and I can’t wait to put my order in for next year!
I have struggled all year with putting too many things on my plate, then getting overwhelmed, then just giving up. That type of cycle isn’t leading to much success, so I am going really minimalistic this month (because minimalism is super trendy right now, so why not get with the times?).
Date Night with Eric: Eric and I make it a priority to take a night to ourselves at least once a month, which was made just a tad more difficult when we had our daughter 8 months ago. I know it will continue to get harder as we have more kids (no, that it not an announcement), so we want to make sure that we keep dating each other no matter what. I am hopeful that we can get out to the ballpark to see our Astros play (hint hint).
Read a book: This month I am reading “If You Can Keep It” by Eric Metaxes. And it is so good. As well as really timely for the climate that our country is in. It isn’t a political as far as aligning with a certain party, but it does give a lot of insight into the reasons why our Founding Fathers felt confident about giving the American people a Republic to manage and that it takes a certain mindset to uphold that Republic. I highly recommend it and I am only halfway through.
Work out 3x a week: I have been walking around our neighborhood to get my blood pumping, but the mom pooch that resides on my belly is telling me LOUD AND CLEAR that I need to do more. As luck would have it, a new pilates studio opened in my neighborhood and they offered 4 classes for FREE as an awesome promotion. So I have been taking those classes and it has made me realize that my abs haven’t quite healed from my surgeries and I need to put a bit more work into strengthening them again. I am planning on trying out a few more classes at different studios and will keep you posted on any fun ones that I find!
Read my Bible: I am still working my way through reading the entire Bible in a year. I am doing really well in the month of August but I do have some catching up to do from previous months.
Practice my Spanish: I am using Duolingo (find it in the App store!) to try and learn Spanish because I think it would be really helpful to be bilingual. Duolingo makes learning a new language feel like a game and it takes about 10 minutes of my time every evening (yup that’s it). So if anyone speaks Spanish and wants to test my by having a conversation with me, I would love to test my skills (*Full Disclosure – according to Duolingo, I am only 8% fluent).
And those are my goals for August! Pretty light, but they are all in line with my yearly goals and I am getting more time to focus on building these habits that I really want to be a part of my routine.
What goals have you been tackling in August? Let me know in the comments below!
