January always gets the reputation for being the month were everyone sets big expectations and aims to reinvent themselves, but Febaruary gets stuck as the month were resolutions and dreams go to die.
BUT IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY!Â
I love breaking my goals down in to 1 month chunks so that they are easier for me to accomplish. That way, momentum builds as you move through the year and you are much more likely to get to December having made great progress on your yearly aspirations.
If you haven’t set monthly goals before, I have put together a list of monthly goal ideas for February to get you started, as well as shared my monthly goals for you to take a peek at! I love the accountability that sharing my goals on the blog provides, so please feel free to check in with me and see how I am doing! Email me at Mattie@growingthegivens.com for a goals check-in!
Monthly Goal Ideas for February
– Make valentines for your friends
– Learn some heart healthy meals to cook at home – I have been learning a lot from my friend Laura who is a registered dietician! Check out her post on heart healthy recipies that are perfect for the month of love!
– Plan a game night for your family or friends
– Create a war room – Watch this movie if you don’t know what a war room is!
– Build a photo album – I love using ChatBooks to build quick and easy (and cheap!) photo books to keep all of my photos in. ChatBooks has some really cute book covers to celebrate all things love which you should totally check out! Blurb is another great photo book service that builds higher quality books. Blurb would be perfect if you were wanting to create a family photo album for your husband for Valentine’s day!
– Find and outfit that is just your style – coming out of that winter slump (and after cleaning out your closet!) is the perfect time to add some fresh looks to your wardrobe. If you don’t have time to go to the mall – try StichFix! For $20, they will do the shopping for you and mail the clothes right to your home. Does mail get any better? Use my special link and the $20 fee will be waived on your first order!
– Redecorate a room in your home – I am currently decorating every room in my home and am using Houzz.com to get ideas and have even ordered some fun pieces. This is making home decorating much less stressful than furniture shopping with my husband.
– Create some family traditions like sledding, or making heart shaped pancakes on valentines day
– Show the love by volunteering
My Monthly Goals for February
MONTHLY
– Have atleast 1 date night – We planned in advance for this one back in our January business meetings, so the babysitters are scheduled and reservations are made!
– Plan a girls night – This ties into my goal of growing my friendships, and pouring back in to relationships that have given so much to me over the past few years.
– Set our February Budget – Now that we are back in a house, our expenses are changing quite a bit! This budget is going to be a doozie, but will be much easier with EveryDollar!
– Schedule a day to volunteer – If I don’t make this a priority at the beginning of the month, my schedule fills up and I struggle to make it happen. I am going to schedule my shifts by the 5th of the month!
WEEKLY
– Send an encouragement card to someone – I have loved getting to do this in January and am just rolling this weekly goal over to February. I will need to order some more cute postcards from the Cultivate What Matters Shop!
– Work out 3x a week – I am loving my Peloton workouts, and it is so nice to do them at home since I spend over an hour and a half commuting each day. If you are looking for some workouts to do at home (and for free) try ToneItUp.com. They have great workouts that you can do anywhere and they even put together a weekly workout schedule for you to follow!
– Cook dinner 1x a week – My January goal was to cook twice a week, but that was a bit difficult since we were unpacking and figuring out our new commutes. Scaling this back a bit so that I don’t get overwhelmed with the pressure to hit a goal that isn’t quite realistic for my family. For the record, we don’t eat out everynight, we more just eat cereal (a lot).
– Go to small group every Wednesday – our church offers small group classes each Wednesday and E and I are going wanting to go to one about lovingly disciplining your kids. This is going to take some commitment from us to attend since our church is now quite a bit out of the way from our work to our home, so somedays we may be tempted to skip it due to convenience. Stating this goal here on the blog to help us fight those feelings and attend each week so we can learn more about faith based parenting.
– Do a family activity – Our new neighborhood makes this really easy! In January we went to a snow day in the park, spent lots of time on the swings, and even had some family fun while trapped inside for two days due to ice all over Houston. Hopefully we get even more outdoor time in February and can do some family bike rides!
DAILY
– Read the Bible – E and I are reading through the One Year Bible and it is going great so far. This Bible makes it much easier to stay focused on the specific goal of reading the Bible in one year due to its layout. If that is one of your goals – I highly recommend you get the One Year Bible.
– Write Something – I am flexing my creative muscles and trying to write something every day in February! I love writing and am excited about the challenge of just taking 15 minutes to write anything from creative prompts to actual posts for the blog. I look forward to checking back in on how this goal went (and what it produced) in the March Monthly Goals post!
